Our waterproof jackets are available with adjustable and removable hoods, bright and neutral colors, and various lengths.

What’s the Difference Between Waterproof, Water-Resistant, and Water-Repellent?

Our waterproof jackets provide protection against water pressure from heavy snow and rain up to 20,000mm. They have a 3 layer waterproof fabrication, a performance DWR coating, sealed seams, and water-repellent zippers. We recommend waterproof coats for heavy snow and light-to-moderate rainfall.

Water-resistant jackets are ideally designed to repel light water, including snow flurries and light rain. However, unlike waterproof coats, they aren’t seam-sealed. Water-resistant products are not meant to resist heavy exposure to water, like what’s encountered in conditions from moderate rain and snow to torrential downpours and blizzards.

Water-repellency is a characteristic that both waterproof and water-resistant jackets share. Water-repellent jackets are hydrophobic, or repel water on contact.

What Is Durable Water Repellent (DWR)?

Durable Water Repellent (DWR) is a chemical compound applied to the outer fabric of a jacket to make its surface water-repellent. This chemical coating is composed of polymers that cause water to coalesce into a droplet and slide off the fabric.

What Is Hydrophobic Nanotechnology?

Hydrophobic nanotechnology is widely used to make fabrics water-repellent, water-resistant, or waterproof. It is integrated into the fabric in such a way that virtually prevents liquid from soaking into the clothing. Additionally, this technology can also make it easier for clothing to repel dirt and oil.

What Is Seam Sealing?

During manufacturing, the stitching process creates small punctures on the jacket’s fabric where water could potentially penetrate. These puncture along the seams, can be sealed using a process called seam-sealing.

Seam sealing is usually implemented by applying a special tape on the seam of the coat, or by using the process of heat sealing, which involves welding pieces of fabrics together using heat.

What Do Waterproof Ratings Mean?

Waterproof ratings are special ratings that indicate how much water pressure a certain fabric can withstand before it starts to leak. The higher a jacket is rated, the more resistant and durable it is. Jackets rated from 1,500mm-5,000mm would be best worn in light rain or misty weather conditions, whereas jackets rated at 20,000mm and above are waterproof to high levels of precipitation.
